We are flexible in our approach and are able to tailor our services to suit your requirements. These are just some of the ways in which we are able to help schools, staff and their Chinese learners:
Student welcome, induction and orientation services.
We find that it is highly effective to provide tailored information and welcome sessions for your Chinese students at the early stages of their UK learning journey. Topics typically covered include:
- introduction to commonly expected behaviours and manners within the UK – for example, holding doors open for others, showing gratitude, table manners etc.
- tips regarding how to approach making friends, including what should be avoided (for example, the value of personal space in Western culture) and expected behaviours.
- information regarding the teacher/student relationship including the differences between the differing roles in Eastern and Western settings. Also outline expectations surrounding plagiarism, creative thinking and group working.
- managing expectations – for example, medical care received may be very different to care received in their home country.
Training services for staff
In order to fully support Chinese students it is important that key staff members are fully informed with regards to the cultural differences they should expect. We can fully prepare teachers and support staff, giving them the tools they need to assist with any problems they may encounter, helping the students reach their potential.
School support services
We are able to work alongside schools to help ensure they have effective strategies and policies in place to fully support their students from locations including China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Existing strategies may not work in the context of achieving success – new communication channels may need to be developed in order to attract, retain and nurture Chinese students. We are also able to review and feedback on planned curriculum or functional changes within the school, letting you know how they may be received by Chinese learner.
